Richard Halton

Director, Project Origin, ISBA

Richard is Director of Project Origin, ISBA’s programme to deliver accountable digital and cross media measurement. He leads the UK work to establish a global blueprint and co-chairs the international work sponsored by the WFA to enable a technology solution across markets.

Previously Richard was Chief Executive of YouView, the connected TV platform powering BT and Talk TV, co-owned also by the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Arqiva. He founded the company in 2010, launched YouView as a direct to consumer proposition in 2012 and transitioned it to a B2B software business, now in over three million UK homes.

Richard started his career in media at the BBC working with channel and commissioning teams, becoming Controller TV Strategy in 2003. In in 2005 he was asked by the Director General to lead Creative Future, a pan BBC review to position the organisation for the digital age and then led a new Business Strategy function responsible for partner relationships, commercial and platform strategy.

Before joining the BBC, Richard worked for Andersen Consulting (Accenture) in their retail practice.
